REIKI
What is Reiki?
Reiki is a more than 100-year-old energy healing practice that originated in Japan. The word Reiki in the Japanese language consists of two ideograms, or Kanji in the Japanese writing system. The kanji REI (霊), which means "in the heavens", "soul", and KI (気), which means "spirit", but is usually interpreted as "life force" or "life energy". So REIKI can be translated as "the life force from the heavens".
Everyone has the ability to connect with this healing energy and can use it to optimize and strengthen the life force within themselves and to help others. As Western traditions teach us, our "KI" surrounds and fills our bodies and keeps us alive. It is also present in all living organisms. It is believed by Reiki and Western medicine practitioners that the energy in the body should be free flowing. When the energy becomes weak, constricted or imbalanced in different areas, it can lead to symptoms of physical or emotional imbalance. The reverse is also possible. Physical illness and/or harmful beliefs and thought patterns that lead to emotional struggle lead to energetic imbalance. The healing process here involves restoring balance to the subtle body by harmonizing its energy channels.
The energy channeling system used in this practice is the Usui Method of Spiritual Energy Healing - Usui Reiki Ryoho (臼井靈氣療法) - the name given in honor of its founder, Mikao Usui. The Usui Reiki Ryoho is one of the methods that has established itself in the West.
Reiki is a way of spiritual development and represents the connection of the most sacred in you with the love and wisdom of the universe. It is practical, safe and effective. It is a harmless energy with no side effects and is compatible with any type of therapy or treatment. The use of Reiki can help heal the physical body, calm the mind, assist with emotional issues and help one to manifest and fulfill their true potential.
The practice of Reiki is independent of any religion and has as its ultimate goal spiritual advancement. For the practice of Reiki, it is fundamental to understand Usui Sensei's teaching: "The purpose of life is to achieve a peaceful state of mind, and then, while holding that peace within, to fulfill our destined missions."
